What does scope creep cost you per year?
The small "just one change" requests that pile up without being billed. This calculator puts a figure on that invisible loss. Most freelancers underestimate their own scope creep by 2 to 3×.

How to reduce scope creep
- Sign a statement of work before starting. No start on a vague brief — the statement of work fixes the scope and becomes your basis for negotiation on any change.
- Change clause in the quote. Example: "Any request outside the scope is subject to a priced amendment before execution." Non-negotiable.
- Change request form. When the client asks for something, require them to formalise it through an official channel — that deters 40 % of requests.
- Branded client portal with formal validation of each stage. The client can no longer claim that "it was in the brief".
- Courteous standard reply: "Great idea, not included in our initial scope. I can add it for X €. I will prepare an amendment — do you approve?"
