SIRET
Definition
Identification System of the Establishments Directory — a unique 14-digit number identifying each establishment of a company in France. Required on all quotes and invoices.
Detailed explanation
The SIRET (14 digits) = SIREN (9 digits identifying the company) + NIC (5 digits identifying the establishment). Each establishment of a company has its own SIRET, even for a solo freelancer. Obtained automatically when the company is created via the INPI single window. Required on: quotes, invoices, contracts, terms of sale, website legal notices. The absence of a SIRET on an invoice makes it inadmissible in accounting and exposes the issuer to a €15 fine per omission (capped at €1,500 per invoice).
